Greetings everyone.
Does anyone have an idea about which of these two is literally right, "Whom do you think of?" or "Who do you think of?"

Praetor

Emekli Yönetici
    Konu Sahibi
Hi...
I guess "who" is more appropriate for that sentence...
What is your idea?..

Well.. If I rely on the basic rule of "if a question can be answered by "her/him", the question is asked by "whom" ", I'd say "Whom do you think of" is the right one.
I definitely know "whom do you go with" is literally right and this question also resembles that one.

You're right but i relied on the basic rule of "whom is used only in formal questions; who is used instead of whom..."
But there is a rule in English: "whom" (not who) is used if preceded by a preposition.
To whom should i talk? (but as you can see, it is also formal).

I guess using who in mentioned sentence is not wrong... But i'm not definately sure about it :)

"Whom" is quite an off to date expression though. I doubt even the Queen uses it anymore. I just wondered which was "more" correct. :)
