For a mindless beat em up it's fun

by p_enut Besides the other "FIRST REVIEW!" "reviews" I'll actually break down the game for you here as I've been playing for about the last 30 minutes now. First off this game is a mindless beat em up in an entirely 1D (LEFT/RIGHT) playing field. If you're not into these types of games, look elsewhere. With that said this game is quite fun for the last 30 minutes I've played it! The only reason why I stopped is because the game froze on me during the intro cut-scene for the 3rd (and what I assume) is the last boss. The game play is simple. You can walk, quick attack or strong attack either left or right. The controls are on the sides of the touch screen and are easy to use. You can activate a "special" attack if you shake the iPhone too. But considering if you die you start from the very beginning of the level I save mine up so I can continue right where I die. This game has wonderful graphics but the variation is quite limiting as you play for more than the first level. There are only 3 enemies (some have different skins) small, medium, and large. They're no blocking involved in this game so it's an all out attack fest. Keep button mashing til you get to the boss pretty much. Though when you get to the boss all you have to do is tap the skull that appears before it disappears and you'll beat the boss in a God of War-esque cut scene. In the end it's a fun game but don't look for hours of gameplay here. 30 minutes of great beat em up fun!

Great Graphics...Not So Great Value

by ticookie First off, a tip of the hat to Digital Legends for the amazing graphical job so far...best on the iPhone, resembling DS/PSP games. However, the depth is extremely shallow. A hack-n-slash is exactly what the platform needed, but at $8, I expected more game. The three difficulties merely artificially lengthen the game, as each of the three chapters take from around 5-10 mins. No real problems with the game itself, just a problem with pricing for the game. $5 is the magic number for this game, I feel. Anything more is too high for too little game.

Not Much of a Game, But Good Technology Demonstration

by themacuser123 Kroll was first previewed during WWDC. Sadly, the game still runs like a demo rather than a game. There is not much challenge in the game at all. To play the game, you just mindlessly move your character through the game. Not a whole lot of skill required! All the monsters and enemies can be easily defeated without much effort or technique. I wish the developer could have made this into an actual fighting game by allowing the character to jump, punch, block, and attack.

Pros:

* Excellent visual throughout.
* Great cut scene.

Cons:

* Poor game play.
* Boring, can't really control your character.
* No replay value.

***** Kroll Strategy Guide *****

* Be aggressive, Move fast, Don't slow down.
* Use quick attack against scorpions.
* When you are absolutely surrounded by monsters use the special weapon by pressing on Kroll or shake the iPhone.
* Quick attack often is more affective than strong attack.
* The bigger they are the harder they fall. Certain monster can be eliminated easily using strong attack. Just press none stop
* When facing the boss man, press on the skull as fast as you can.

The game can be beaten within a hour! Good Luck!
